At Bell View, we are always looking for ways to bring new and accessible activities to the people we serve across north Northumberland. We know that staying active, maintaining flexibility, and having space to breathe and be still can make an enormous difference to people’s health and wellbeing — and we know that for many of the people we work with, conventional exercise classes are simply not the right fit. Which is exactly why we are so pleased to introduce Seated Yoga to Bell View.
Seated Yoga does what it says on the tin. It is yoga — the breathing, the mindful movement, the focus on how the body feels — adapted so that every exercise is performed from a chair. No getting down to the floor, no need for a mat, no worry about balance or mobility. It is suitable for people of all ages, including those living with joint pain, limited mobility, or long-term health conditions, and it is genuinely enjoyable.
The sessions are led by the wonderful Karen, whose warmth, encouragement and skill made the first session feel immediately welcoming. Participants are guided through gentle stretches and breathing exercises at a pace that suits everyone in the room, with adaptations available so that no one is ever left behind or made to feel that they cannot keep up.
The feedback from those who have already taken part has been wonderful. People have described feeling calmer, less stiff, and more energised after sessions — and, perhaps just as importantly, they have enjoyed the company and the sense of doing something positive for themselves.
Seated Yoga sits naturally alongside Bell View’s commitment to health and wellbeing across the community. We believe that good health should be accessible to everyone, regardless of age, ability or circumstance, and sessions like this one are a practical expression of that belief. If there is something you’d like to see at Bell View, just give us a shout …
