A Toast to our Volunteers

There are events that Bell View puts on for the community, and then there are events Bell View puts on for the people who make the community happen. The Volunteer Cheese & Wine Evening on Thursday 12th March was firmly in the second category — and all the more special for it.

Bell View’s volunteers are extraordinary. They drive people across some of the most sparsely populated countryside in England, staff the Warm Hub, support outreach services, bake for coffee mornings, welcome visitors and give their time in a hundred other ways that rarely make the headlines but make an enormous difference to the lives of those we serve. None of what Bell View does would be possible without them.

The Cheese & Wine Evening was a simple gesture of gratitude: good food, good drink, good company and the chance to say thank you properly, face to face, without an agenda attached. There was laughter, there were conversations that started with volunteering and ranged a great deal further, and there was the particular warmth that comes from a room full of people who genuinely care about the same things.

Bell View is fortunate beyond measure in its volunteers. If you are reading this and wondering whether volunteering might be for you, we would love to hear from you. Get in touch at reception@bellviewbelford.co.uk or call 01668 219220.
