Macmillan Coffee Morning

Every year, in coffee shops, community halls, village centres and living rooms across the country, people gather together for a slice of cake and a cup of something warm and raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. It is one of the most beloved fundraising traditions in the calendar — and every year, Bell View is proud to be part of it.

This year’s Macmillan Coffee Morning raised a brilliant £250 — a total that reflects not just the generosity of everyone who came through the door, but the extraordinary talent and dedication of our volunteer bakers, without whom there would have been nothing to sell and considerably less reason to attend.

The cakes, as those who were there will confirm, were something special. There was variety, there was ambition, there was genuine skill on display — and there was a great deal of quiet deliberation about which slice to have first. The room was full of the particular warmth that comes from a gathering of people who are there for a good reason, enjoying good food and good company.

Macmillan does vital work supporting people living with cancer and those who care for them. In a rural area like north Northumberland, where people can feel isolated and where specialist services can be harder to access, that support matters enormously. Raising money for Macmillan is something we are proud to do, and something we hope to keep doing year after year.

Huge thanks to our wonderful bakers, to everyone who volunteered their time to help set up, serve and clear away, and to every single person who came along and parted with a few pounds in a very good cause.
